Wisconsin has developed new ways on learning the hazards on state roads and makes it easy for drivers. 511 Travel Information System has introduced a new tool to notify drivers on problems on the road. The system has boosted the capacity of the server so website can keep running even during storms.
Drivers can access the site by dialing 511 or checking their online website at www.511wi.gov. The site provides information on the current road hazards and conditions.
The Department of Transportation traffic operations engineer, Chris Quesnell, said the new tool will greatly help drivers in planning ahead their route especially at times when a lane closure or detour is being arranged.
“It’s better to have that little bit of knowledge before you go with your trip,” he added.
Also, it is certainly more helpful knowing these details on winter storm seasons. This will help drivers decide whether to go on a trip or not.
The company’s system has been on the service of alerting drivers since January 2009. Users however have been complaining not able to access the full site during stormy seasons. This is because there was no enough bandwidth to support the system for heavy use.
Meanwhile, a new technology has been announced which will help Toyota drivers to manage and at the same time enjoy their digital music. Gracenote has launched its music metadata to enjoy their music collection with Toyota Entune-enabled multimedia systems. Entune has been awarded as CNET Best of CES award for Cartech. The system lets drivers and passengers to touch and use voice commands to connect with applications and music on their mobile devices.
